The four-time defending NAHL Central Division Champions would like to invite you to tryout to be part of our continued plan for success. The Bobcats will be hosting two open tryouts across the country in 2013 to accommodate travel plans and cost savings.
Bobcat Hockey does everything that it can to ensure a tryout process that allows each young man to showcase his talent and measure his progress against his peers. It is said that tryouts are just a fund raiser. Bobcat Hockey acknowledges that tryouts do provide part of the funding for junior hockey. We have however devised a system that gives every boy the best opportunity of succeeding. Over the last 4-5 years an average of 5-7 boys or 20% of our opening day roster has been made up of open tryout candidates. This includes players from our national and division championship teams and this year's squad. It also includes 2005-06 rookie of the year Eric Kattelus, 2009-10 rookie of the year candidates Dom Panetta and Ryan Jacobson, 2010-11 rookie standouts Charlie Mosey, Nikolaj Rosenthal, Danny Ray and 2012-13 heavy contributors such as goalie Aaron Nelson, defenseman Levi Blom and forwards Evan Giesler, Sam Coborn and Filip Starzynski (a member of Team Poland at the 2012 & 2013 World Junior Championships).
Our program continues to grow in its success with developing and placing players. Coach Layne Sedevie and assistant coach Garrett Roth have done an excellent job in both regards. We believe that our off-ice strength and conditioning program has been a key to our success. We have a personal strength trainer and program for each of our players. In the last three seasons we have placed 20 players at the Division I level plus countless others at the D-III level. This year we anticipate placing between 8 and 12 players in Division I programs across the country.
Our tryout system allows us the best chance to evaluate you and every boy gets personal feedback on their tryout upon request. We guarantee that between 10 and 15 boys from each camp will be invited to our final camp at no extra cost. The final camp will be in late July in Bismarck. This allows us for a complete and honest evaluation of all of our campers. If you are ready for the NAHL and ready to be a Bobcat you may sign up online. You may put down $150 as a nonrefundable deposit or pay the $250 total cost and be done. If you pay the $150 please know to bring cash to the tryout for the balance as we will be unable to accept credit cards or checks at that time. Come to camp in shape so we can get a proper evaluation. We look forward to seeing you at the rink. If you have any questions you may call our office at 701-222-3300 or Layne Sedevie at 701-226-8999.
